WORLD SERIES: Red Sox Romp On Field, Facebook

2013WorldSeriesLogo650The 2013 World Series got off to a rousing start for the Boston Red Sox Wednesday night, as the home team routed the visiting St. Louis Cardinals 8-1, while capturing 62 percent of Facebook chatter related to the game, compared with 38 percent for the Redbirds.

Facebook said the Red Sox generated more than 5 million interactions Wednesday night, from more than 2.6 million unique Facebook users.

The top five demographic groups discussing the World Series on the social network were:

  • Men 25 through 34
  • Men 35 through 44
  • Women 25 through 34
  • Women 35 through 44
  • Men 18 through 24

And the top nine states (Nos. 1 and 2 should come as no surprise) were:

  • Massachusetts
  • Missouri
  • Texas
  • Illinois
  • California
  • Florida
  • New York
  • New Jersey
  • Virginia
