2014 NCAA TOURNAMENT: 15.3M+ Facebook Users Create 46M Combined Posts, Comments, Likes

UConnVsKentucky650The 2014 NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship tournament came to a close Wednesday night, with the University of Connecticut’s 60-54 victory over the University of Kentucky at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, and Facebook announced in a Newsroom post that the 2014 version of March Madness spawned 46 million combined posts, comments, and likes between March 16 and April 7, from more than 15.3 million users.

The top five social moments on Facebook during Monday night’s championship game were:

  1. Tipoff.
  2. A monster dunk in the second half by Kentucky Guard James Young.
  3. UConn 35, Kentucky 31 at halftime.
  4. UConn wins.
  5. UConn’s strong start leading up to the first time out.

Facebook also highlighted posts about Monday night’s game from Miami Heat Forward LeBron James, Houston Rockets Center Dwight Howard, Oklahoma City Thunder Forward Kevin Durant, and boxer Floyd Mayweather.
