The Aflac Duck has done wonders for selling insurance, but now he’s turning his attention to childhood cancer. Aflac is sharing its trademark duck all over Facebook, raising money for kids with the deadly disease. Those who donate to the cause get their own Aflac rubber ducky and a virtual duck that will race others on the Aflac Duck’s Facebook page in October. The winning duck gets a family vacation in Orlando, Fla.
The campaign has already raised more than $90,000, which Aflac will match. The company created a Facebook application (Swim with Friends) where users can donate money, buy a rubber duck, or learn more.
There will be a race, featured on the Aflac Duck’s Facebook page, Oct. 9. Money raised goes to the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta. A donation of $12 gets participants a virtual duck in the race and a rubber duck to keep for themselves. The winner of the virtual duck race will receive a family vacation for four in Orlando.
The campaign was made possible by several agencies, including Digitas, DriftLab, Citizen Paine, and SheSpeaks.
