A long, long time ago, from a developer far, far away (Rovio is based in Finland, after all), Angry Birds Star Wars made its way to Facebook.

The newest installment in the Angry Birds game series brings features to players, including:

  • Five new levels every week and new weekly tournaments.
  • Three exclusive new power-ups: Blaster Droid (laser destruction), Light Saber Sling (super flinging), and Thermal Detonator (explosives planting), pictured below, in order.
  • The Clone Bird feature, which allows players to create a duplicate bird of their choice.
  • The ability to either cooperate with or compete against friends.

Rovio Executive Vice President of Games Petri Järvilehto said:

It’s all the fun of Angry Birds Star Wars taken to the next level. You get the great Angry Birds Star Wars game play for free, plus you can compete against your friends to see who is the ultimate bird-flinger and Jedi Master.

And Facebook Head of Europe, Middle East, and Asia Game Partnerships Julien Codorniou added:

Angry Birds Star Wars on Facebook is another great example of a top mobile developer building social games for Facebook.com. Rovio’s games connect people with their friends around the world through high-quality game play, immersive graphics, and engaging social elements, and we’re excited to see them bring their latest game to Facebook.
