INFOGRAPHIC: Facebook Will Still Be Dominant In 10 Years

Facebook marketing firm Betapond, which acquired application developer iPlatform last week, used the occasion of Facebook reaching 1 billion monthly average users to ask 404 “social media opinion formers” from the U.K. and Ireland what they thought about the social network, and if they have anything to say about it, Facebook is here to stay.

Betapond’s findings included:

  • 34 percent of respondents believe Facebook will be “everywhere” in 10 years, while 25 percent believe the social network will be “bigger than it is now,” 18 percent answered “about the same,” 16 percent predicted that it would be “overtaken by rivals,” and just 7 percent responded with “dead and buried.”
  • 79 percent of respondents agreed or strongly agreed that automatic sharing can be good if there are easy ways to opt out, while 21 percent felt differently.
  • When asked how important Facebook was to their jobs compared with two years ago, 66 percent said more important than not, versus 34 percent who replied less important.
