Attention CrackBerry addicts! The latest version of Facebook for BlackBerry has just been released with a slew of new features, according to the official BlackBerry Blog.

Version 1.9 is now available through the BlackBerry Beta Zone. The blog post says: “We continually strive to improve the ‘Facebook for BlackBerry’ experience – in V1.8 we focused on optimizing the speed and performance of the application; now in V.1.9 we are adding more Facebook features that BlackBerry smartphone fans have been asking for.”

One new feature is a dedicated in-box just for Facebook messages, something many users had asked for. However, if users prefer they can set it up so that Facebook messages will appear in the main BlackBerry in-box instead. The Facebook in-box has real-time syncing with the web so that messages downloaded on the BlackBerry will show up as opened and read on Facebook.com and vice versa.

Another change is the enhancement to search functionality. Facebook for BlackBerry smartphones v1.9 has a new Facebook Search function to allow users to search Facebook for individual people and pages. You can search mutual friends, enlarge profile pics, send friend requests and ‘like’ pages from the BlackBerry. Facebook Search is tied into the BlackBerry’s integrated Universal Search, so if you search your BlackBerry smartphone for a query, it will also pull in results from Facebook.

Version 1.9 also includes some navigational and design upgrades. The friends list now includes profile photos of friends and uses can now view pages in list form. BlackBerry has also updated the navigation bar so you can view your profile, and add new icons for Facebook search and Message view.
