Brands Hope For Happy Mother’s Day On Facebook

In case you’ve forgotten (and you don’t want to do that), Mother’s Day is this Sunday. And brands including 1-800-Flowers, Procter & Gamble, and Zales have taken to Facebook for marketing campaigns tied to the holiday.

Facebook said its research showed that the majority of its U.S. users intended to purchase flowers, gift, certificates, or jewelry and clothing for their Mother’s Day gifts. Here’s how the three brands mentioned above are taking advantage.

  • 1-800-Flowers asked female Facebook users who have liked its page and general, and mothers in particular, to choose which bouquets they liked best, and the results were displayed under a special Mother’s Day Likes tab. The online florist also offered discounts of 15 percent on bouquets highlighted under the tab, along with $10 cards to use toward Zynga games.

  • Zales launched multichannel marketing campaign Celebrate Your SuperMom, anchored on Facebook, including a sweepstakes in which it asked Facebook users to submit stories about their moms, virtual gifting, and integration with Pinterest.
