REPORT: Despite Facebook’s Social Recruiting Growth, LinkedIn Still Dominates

Despite the growth of social recruiting on Facebook, Bullhorn Reach maintains that LinkedIn still dominates the field, and that Facebook still trails Twitter, as well.

The customer-relationship-management and social-recruiting software and service provider found in a study that only 22 percent of recruiters used Facebook to seek candidates in 2012, compared with 97 percent for LinkedIn and 27 percent for Twitter.

Bullhorn Reach also found that only 12 percent of its network of more than 160,000 recruiters was active on all three social networks, with 14 percent combining LinkedIn and Twitter, and just 8 percent using LinkedIn and Facebook.

And the company found that 15 percent of recruiters had networks of between 1,001 and 2,000 connections on LinkedIn, while 50 percent of those using Twitter had fewer than 50 followers, and 26 percent of those using Facebook had fewer than 200 friends.

Finally, Bullhorn Reach stated that for every job posted on Facebook in 2012, LinkedIn drove 17.2 times more job views, while that figure was 4.3 for Twitter, even though Facebook and Twitter drew similar numbers of applications per job.

Bullhorn President and CEO Art Papas said:

Social recruiting continues to gain momentum, and it’s no surprise that LinkedIn remains the preferred network for recruiters given its early and fervent adoption. Social media helps recruiters reach a much larger pool of talent than they would through traditional means. In 2012, when we issued our first social recruiting activity report, it was mainly tech-savvy early adopters using Bullhorn Reach. Now it’s mainstream.
