LinkedIn isn’t the only game in the social networking town when it comes to career advancement and opportunities, and while BranchOut has carved itself a niche as the LinkedIn of Facebook, there’s still room for related services, such as the recently introduced Career Notify.
Founder and developer David Shariff said the free recruitment and head-hunter service sends email notifications to users when their friends and contacts accept new jobs, are promoted, or resign their positions. He added:
The benefits include, but are not limited to:
- Tracking high-value candidates and keeping up-to-date about their careers and interests.
- Beating your competitors by finding out about the best talents from Facebook first.
- Be informed when a target is hired by a competitor or resigns from their job.
- Keyword targeting: Receive an alert when a target posts specific words you are interested in, such as “Google,” “IBM,” or “looking for a new job.”
BranchOut, meanwhile, allows users to create professional profiles on Facebook, keeping them completely separate from personal profiles on the social network. The application lets individuals search for job listings, while allowing companies to add recruitment tabs to their Facebook pages.
Thus, BranchOut complements, rather than competes with Career Notify, and vice versa.
