Star Emerges At Facebook: Product VP Chris Cox

It’s not Facebook Co-Founder and Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg who is gobbling up the spotlight in the social network’s initial public offering video roadshow in the role of master storyteller. Nor is it Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg. If you guessed Chief Financial Officer David Ebersman, you guessed wrong. Instead, Vice President of Product Chris Cox steals the show.

The 29-year-old is said to be a good counterpart to Zuckerberg, and it was smart strategy to have the two appear together on camera, according to Fortune. Cox turns to passionate elaboration and animation when explaining the platform and product to liven up Zuckerberg’s delivery. And Cox uses the adjective “amazing” a sizable number of times throughout the 31-minute video.

Cox is also a veteran of Facebook, having joined the company in the bygone days of 2005, after having left a Stanford graduate program for the scrappy startup with massive potential and a would-be friend at the helm.

Investment bankers and their clients will have the chance to purchase shares of the social network at its offering price May 18. Rather than being hit with the expected, typically boring explanations of company background via infographics, charts, and numbers, they may view this video, described by Fortune Senior Writer Miguel Helft as “slick.”

Cox will reportedly attend the face-to-face roadshow meetings this week, as well.
