If you haven’t studied internet marketing then there’s a good chance you don’t know what a landing page is. If you already know what one is, congratulations, you are well ahead of most people. According to Wikipedia, a landing page, “is the page that appears when a potential customer clicks on an advertisement or a search-engine result link.” Honestly, the Wikipedia definition isn’t the best one since there are new types of advertisements. On Facebook, the action that you want the user to take is to become a fan.

If Twitter's Worth $10 Billion, Facebook Is Worth $100 Billion

Robert Scoble wrote a late night post over the weekend which suggests Twitter is worth between $5 and $10 billion dollars based on a sampling of businesses in approximately 8 cities. What sort of math was used to deduce this valuation? Absolutely none, but if you want to purchase shares at such a ridiculous valuation, Howard Lindzon will sell shares to you. Scoble’s post simultaneously hypes the already bloated Twitter bubble while making jabs at Facebook.

The Facebook platform presents an amazing opportunity for companies to expand their presence quickly by enabling viral distribution through the social graph. One of the most important things to keep in mind is that viral distribution does not necessarily mean more customers. Many businesses become easily distracted with mind-boggling numbers. “If I get millions of users to my application, I only need one percent to purchase my product!” Unfortunately things aren’t that simple, especially considering that most Facebook users are not ready to purchase at any given moment.

This news comes as Facebook is under increasing scrutiny from privacy advocates including the California ACLU chapter which has released a new quiz application to inform users of what data applications have access to.

Facebook Now Promoting Twitter Export Feature To Page Admins. Are The Two Companies Moving Toward An Open Relationship?

This evening, Facebook began fully promoting the new Twitter syncing tool via the top of Facebook Pages and are encouraging page admins to sync with Twitter. With millions of page administrators (which still appear to be a fraction of all users), this new tool promotion will also serve as a significant promotion for Twitter in general. At this point the service is well known but by launching the product internally and making people say “Why’d they do that?”, Facebook is in essence using Twitter to keep their own company honest.
