Baby Boom StampAlmost half of the online Baby Boomer generation (born between 1946 and 1964) update their Facebook or other social networks regularly. According to eMarketer Online senior Analyst Lisa E. Philips, “About 47% of online boomers maintain a profile on at least one social network, according to several sources. Their contacts include family, friends and co-workers of all ages.” The report goes on to discuss Boomers’ favorite networks and methods of buying online. Of the networks included as “social networks” in the study, 73% of the group maintained a Facebook profile.

Facebook applications previously had similar functionality, however as of yesterday afternoon, comment notifications have been shut off. For most users it’s probably not a huge deal, however some developers are already complaining about this subtle change.

New "Ex-Girlfriend" Worm Spreading Through Facebook

-Error Icon-In the past hour I’ve noticed multiple users who have posted a message stating “My Ex-Girlfriend Cheated on me… Here is my revenge!” The image was not of their ex though. As a curious individual, I decided to click on the link to see if it was a virus or something else. The result was that I ended up posting the article to my profile and now it’s spreading around Facebook.

Facebook Translates Toolbar Then Open Sources It

Facebook Toolbar IconEarlier this week, Facebook released an upgraded version of their toolbar for Firefox and IE users. Facebook initially launched their toolbar in 2006, however, back then it was only for english speaking users. The newly released toolbar now supports 16 languages, including Arabic, Chinese (traditional and simpler versions), Danish, Dutch, German, Spanish (traditional and international versions), French, Hebrew, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, Swedish, and Turkish.

CocaCola Announces Their Facebook Super Bowl Campaign

-CocaCola Icon-Coca Cola is planning to run a social media campaign on Facebook during the Super Bowl, that would coincide with its advertisements in Cable TV, according to a web cast news conference by Coca Cola executives on Wednesday. This follows Pepsi who previously announced their intention to remove all SuperBowl ads and opt entirely for social media channels.
