Over the weekend we’ve received multiple reports about a new exploit that makes it appear as though a user “Liked” a page which they didn’t actually like. Numerous Pages have exploited the hack and it appears to have hit hundreds of thousands of users already on Pages like “The Prom Dress That Got This Girl EXPELLED From School”, “20 Chuck Norris Facts You Probably Didn’t Know”, “LOL This girl gets OWNED after a POLICE OFFICER reads her STATUS MESSAGE”, and many others.

According to BusinessWeek, Facebook access has been restored in Pakistan following a correspondence from Facebook wich assures that “no blasphemous material will be available to users in Pakistan.” In other words, Facebook will block access to groups, such as the “Everybody Draw Mohammed Day” to those users who are based in Pakistan. If true, this means Facebook has caved to pressure from the country after users were denied access for almost two weeks.

Facebook, Involver, And White House Partner On Memorial Day App

Facebook, Involver, and the White House, have partnered on an application to have users automatically have their status updates honor a fallen soldier. The application also includes a feature which guides users to change their profile photo to the one pictured on the right. It’s part of a promotion for Remember.gov, a White House-powered website which lists all of the fallen soldiers who were part of wars that America was involved in.

Bangladesh Follows Pakistan, Bans Facebook

Bangladesh, following in the steps of Pakistan, has banned Facebook due to photos of the Muslim Prophet Mohammed according to the Associated Press. The news comes a little over a week after Pakistan banned Facebook over a group titled “Everybody Draw Mohammed Day”.

Facebook Wizard Will Magically Make Your Money Disappear
A new software package, promising to enable you to reach hundreds of thousands of people on Facebook, will take your money in exchange for software which will spam the hell out of Facebook. While we haven’t purchased the application, it’s clearly against Facebook’s terms and is probably not the best way to build a “viral marketing” campaign. The application could also be the source of much of the Facebook Page spamming that users have been reporting to us in recent days.

According to Microsoft’s Australian chief security adviser, Stuart Strathdee, companies are avoiding upgrading their internet browsers from IE6 because Facebook, among other things, doesn’t render properly within the browser. While the companies could theoretically use firewalls, or other security measures to prevent Facebook usage, many companies simply choose not to upgrade browsers instead.

Compete Records Facebook's Largest Month
Compete.com has come out with their April traffic statistics, and it appears that Facebook has experienced its biggest month yet. With over 135 million unique visitors in the U.S., Facebook grew over 2.5 percent last month domestically and overall visits increased a whopping 15.7 percent, signaling that overall usage among users is increasing as well. While May’s statistics will be the ones to refute whether or not Facebook traffic stalled, April appears to have been another big month.

The Average Facebook Visitor Views 1055 Pages A Month

If the latest statistics from Google are accurate, Facebook’s 540 million unique monthly users account for almost 1055 page views each month. Facebook also has 8 times as many page views as Yahoo! does each month, although that has been pretty well known for some time now. Facebook Announces Android SDK Beta To Broaden Mobile Support
Facebook today announced the launch of the beta version of the Facebook SDK for Android, which they also demoed at Google I/O last week. This is hot on the heels of the news that the Android platform is picking up steam and in fact outpaced the iPhone platform in sales last month. It looks like app developers are going to be racing to win shares in the still open Android market, and this Facebook API makes it so those applications will be even more powerful.
