Domino’s is turning to Facebook users for ideas on how to improve its menu offerings with the launch of its Think Oven initiative.

Think Oven has into two parts:

  • Projects, in which the pizza chain asks Facebook users for help with a specific topic. The first Project seeks new uniform ideas.
  • Idea Box, in which Facebook users can submit whatever comes to mind.

Domino’s said it will choose two visual entries and two written submissions, and the winners will receive $500 each. That’s a lot of pizza.

The company added that it has a history of looking outside of its headquarters for ideas, as its newest product, Parmesan Bread Bites, were the creation of Brian Edler, owner of one of the chain’s locations in Ohio.

We’re curious about whether Facebook crowdsourcing works for all types of brands or only certain industries. Readers, what’s your opinion on that?
