News From The Facebook Ecosystem: 8thBridge, Conversocial, Betapond

Social commerce technology provider 8thBridge debuted the third version of its 8thBridge Graphite platform Thursday, while social customer-service software provider Conversocial and Preferred Marketing Developer social technology firm Betapond closed funding rounds this week.

Graphite 3 was released in beta Thursday for current 8thBridge customers, and its three pillars are Snapshots, Crowds, and Campaigns.

Snapshots enables brands to view “rich portraits” of their customers, including elements such as their Facebook profile photos, interest, product tastes, and metrics about their interactions with those brands.

Crowds groups together customers or potential customers based on the objectives identified by brands — new customer acquisition, growing customer spending, retaining existing customers. Crowds can be refined based on several criteria, or brands can create their own customized Crowds from scratch.

And Campaigns help brands target Crowds with appropriate messaging.

Conversocial announced that it secured a $4.4 million A2 round, which was led by Octopus Investments a $3.2 million investment and a $1.2 million convertible note. The U.K.-based company said it will use the funds to expand into the U.S., as well as for product development and hiring.

And Betapond closed a €2 million ($2.61 million) funding round, led by The Ulster Bank Diageo Venture Fund and managed by Investec Ventures, with Delta Partners and Irrus Investments also participating.

The company said the funds will go toward expanding its social commerce offerings to retailers, with Co-Founder and CEO Declan Kennedy adding:

Betapond delivers innovative social technology solutions to a great portfolio of global brands. This funding enables the company to accelerate its development and go-to-market plan to be a global leader in social commerce solutions.
