Emoticons Appearing In Facebook Comments

Facebook users can now add emoticons to their comments on the posts of other users or brand pages, but they are still not included in status updates or other posts.

The emoticons also are not appearing in Facebook’s mobile applications, showing up as the shortcut characters when viewed in the mobile apps, but appearing as the proper emoticons when viewed via desktops.

Sister blog Inside Facebook pointed out that the images in emoticons for comments are different from those introduced by the social network in its revamped Facebook Messenger apps for iOS and Android.

Readers: Do you love emoticons, do you believe in moderation when it comes to using them, or should they be avoided altogether?
