Sean Parker's Airtime Uses Facebook For Early Signups

Airtime, the upcoming social video startup from former Facebook President Sean Parker and his Napster co-founder, Shawn Fanning, is using Facebook as its signup interface, for now.

The Airtime website includes an “apply for early access” button that uses Facebook connect, as well as listings for four open positions.

The site will likely wean itself off Facebook in the future, despite the Parker connection.

TechCrunch reported that Parker said in October, “Facebook is about identity, the people you already know. It has little to do with people you don’t know.”

Details are scarce so far on the Airtime site, which reads:

Located in San Francisco, our small team shares a passion for using the latest video technology to bring people together. Our investors include Founders Fund, Accel Partners, Andreessen Horowitz, Google Ventures, SV Angel, Yuri Milner, Ashton Kutcher, Will.i.am, Scott Braun, and Michael Arrington.

Airtime also has a Facebook page, which already totals more than 2,500 likes, and a Twitter account, which has more than 750 followers despite the lack of a single tweet.
