Facebook is growing as a mobile company, with roughly 618 million people checking the social network from their phones and tablets. According to new figures released Thursday by App Annie, Facebook Messenger is the No. 1 iOS social networking application in terms of monthly downloads. The Facebook native app is No. 3. Both Messenger and Facebook are also quite popular on Android, as well.

App Annie released its App Annie Index for 2013 — a comprehensive report of mobile apps. Facebook was all over the report. Facebook Messenger, the fourth-most-downloaded iOS social networking app last year, rose to the top of the chart. The native Facebook app fell from first to third.

Messenger was also the fifth-most-downloaded non-game app on iOS.

Facebook, which has six iOS apps, was also the seventh-most-downloaded publisher on the Apple platform (with Google placing first). The social network only has four Android apps, but it is the most-downloaded publisher on that platform, beating out South Korea’s NHN and Google itself.

Both Facebook and Messenger are popular on Android:
