Facebook Boosts Emphasis Of Apps On Timeline Profiles

Facebook is putting more of an emphasis on applications on users’ timelines, increasing the size of its recent activity box and adding a new box for recently used apps.

The two boxes are located in the right-hand column of timeline profiles, pushing posts created by the user further down in the column. Timeline also features similar boxes for individual apps such as Pinterest and foursquare, as well as for categories including music, games, video, and news.

The boxes can be hidden by clicking on the X in the top-right-hand corner, but they will likely reappear once users engage with apps again.

Individual posts in the recent activity box can also be hidden, but they are replaced by older posts. The category boxes are in place permanently.
