Facebook Boosts Notifications For Page Admins

Page administrators are seeing an additional notification icon on their pages — it’s visible in user mode.

The added notification shows up regardless of whether an admin surfs Facebook using their personal identity or as the page admin.

The new icon appears on the right-hand side of the page, above the link suggesting “promote with an ad” and below the link enabling the admin to surf Facebook using their page’s identity.

The addition of the notifications in the right-hand column of the page saves admins an extra click: clicking on the “use Facebook as” link and then look at the globe icon in the top navigation bar. This latter option still exists.

We’ve asked Facebook whether the social network added this notification icon as a test or permanent feature, or whether a third-party application is making the new iconography appear.

Regardless of the provenance, the added icon seems intended to help admins boost fans’ engagement with pages, using the new notifications prompt as a reminder.

Readers, what do you think of the additional notifications prompt?

Many thanks to Eti Suruzon for pointing this out to us.
