Color Pushes Facebook Video-Sharing With Splashy Ad

Video application start-up Color is promoting its new iPhone and Android apps — which allow users to substitute 30-second, audio-free video clips, which it calls “visits,” for Facebook status updates — with one hell of a pool party.

As first reported by AdAge, the Color YouTube channel features a one-minute ad in which a group of 20-somethings strip down to their underwear and jump into a pool, while one group member uses color to broadcast the impromptu gathering to his Facebook friends.

The spot then jumps to a person on the street watching the live feed from the pool party on their phone.

Color’s YouTube channel also features another ad based on a road trip in a Volkswagen van, as well as a how-to video.

Users’ Facebook friends who are also Color users receive push notifications when visits are posted, and users can see who viewed their visits.
