Yesterday Facebook posted a new job on their site, looking to hire a manager of public policy in Washington, D.C. Considering that this employee will be the fourth at Facebook’s D.C. office, there’s no doubt that it will be a competitive position. According to the job listing, the “Manager, Public Policy” will “monitor legislative and regulatory matters at the state governmental level, participate in federal policy discussions, and lead [Facebook's] interactions with consumer organizations”.
The fact that the new employee will need the “ability to lead and manage teams” suggests that Facebook is looking to hire more employees for their D.C. lobbying efforts. While there is no requirement as to the number of years the applicant has worked, they must have “demonstrated experience managing legislation and/or lobbying strategy”.
As Facebook’s user base continues to expand and as the company’s international reach continues to grow, Facebook’s relationship with legislative representatives will prove to be increasingly important. The employee will join the three other Facebook D.C. employees, Adam Conner, Andrew Noyes, and Tim Sparapani. If you are looking to join the company’s lobbying and general public policy efforts, you can apply for the job here.
