Holiday season comes before tax season, and TurboTax wants to turn it into giving season, with a little help from Facebook page creator Vitrue.
TurboTax and Vitrue teamed up to create Gaming for Good with TurboTax and Toys for Tots, a Facebook memory-testing game in which players must match images of varying deductible tax items.
For each player who successfully completes the game, TurboTax will donate one toy to Toys for Tots, through December 29, and the company said its total number of donated toys will exceed 6,500.
(That could add up to enough value for the parent company Intuit to itemize as a tax deduction, doubtlessly offsetting some of the cost of Vitrue’s branding services. Charity is great, but it’s such a popular branding tactic on Facebook that we feel compelled to call it out when we see it.)
Players are also encouraged to invite friends to play by sharing their high scores and challenging them to top it.
