Interact With Tonight’s MLB Home Run Derby On Facebook

You don’t have to be in Kansas City to have some fun with tonight’s Major League Baseball Home Run Derby. Several Facebook pages have planned games and contests for the exhibition, where top baseball players try to hit as many home runs as possible. You could even win a giant “like” foam finger.

Just want the basic information? MLB’s official Facebook page has photos, information about the participants and fun videos. ESPN, which is broadcasting the event, has been posting cool pictures and polls through its Baseball Tonight page.

Some pages, like Foot Locker and ESPN’s popular program Sportscenter, have been engaging fans with the simple question: Who will win? MLB Fan Cave asked fans to like and share an image of the Home Run Derby participants. With about an hour remaining until first swing, more than 1,100 people liked the image, which has been shared 205 times.

Other pages are promoting contests through their Facebook pages. State Farm, the official sponsor of the Home Run Derby, has dedicated its cover photo to a contest where participants could win a trip to the World Series.

But probably the most awesome Facebook/Home Run Derby link? LikeFinger.com is giving away a giant Facebook-style “like” foam finger to the user who can correctly guess the number of home runs hit by Pittsburgh Pirates player Andrew McCutchen.

Then again, if you’re at Kansas City’s Kauffman Stadium for the Home Run Derby and still want to use Facebook on your phone or iPad, be sure to pay attention for flying baseballs, or else your next status update could be, “Ouch!”
