Yesterday we wrote that many Facebook Page administrators would soon be able to change their Page names, however we didn’t know the limit. Now we do: pages with more than 100 fans cannot change their page name.
Josh Constine posted a comment with the information which we assume came directly from Facebook. This limitation will surely frustrated some Page administrators, however Facebook has good reason: they don’t want Page administrators to build up fan bases under false pretenses and the suddenly switch the Page name. While there are many page administrators who would like to make small edits to their page name, Facebook doesn’t currently have a way of monitoring such modifications.
While they could theoretically program an automated algorithm for detecting the magnitude of changes by administrators, this appears to be an excessive amount of work for the time being. As such, don’t expect to be able to change your Facebook Page name anytime soon if you have more than 100 fans!
