Mom And Daughter Reunite Through Facebook After 48 Years

While Facebook may serve as a hindrance for high school reunions, the social network recently helped a mother and daughter reconnect after more than 40 years.

Joan Courchene Wehrmeyer of Florida married at 17 and soon after had a daughter, Stephanie Phillips. But after a rift between Wehrmeyer and her husband’s family caused a separation, she had not seen her daughter since she was a baby.

Phillips always asked her father about her mother, but was denied any answers.

Luckily, Wehrmeyer has a Facebook account, and 48 years after they last saw each other, Phillips (with the help and support of her husband) was able to track down her mother on Facebook. The two met earlier this week for the first time since Phillips was a baby.

Wehrmeyer was overjoyed to finally see her daughter again:

I was totally shocked and speechless, I just broke down and cried. I said, “I don’t believe it.”
