Facebook Redesigns Search Interface

Facebook has upgraded their search interface, releasing a new version this morning which is more streamlined and includes calls to action to like Pages and add people as friends.

The new design is more consistent with the recent products that they’ve launched like Facebook Groups which include a left-hand navigation. By default it appears to post pages and users that match queries. Users can then navigate to other search areas including “Groups, People, Pages, Events, Applications” and the standard posts filters. Also of interest is that some of the new groups appear to be showing up in the search results, at least those groups that users are members of.

While it doesn’t appear to be a massive overhaul, the redesign is much more consistent with the latest Facebook look that the company appears to have adopted. Users can view the new search immediately by typing any query into the search bar at the top of the site. What do you think of the new design?
