Facebook still meets our need for speed, once again finishing atop the ranking of average response time and just off the pace in availability of social media sites from SmartBear Software’s AlertSite.
The third quarter of 2011 marks the seventh installment of AlertSite’s quarterly Web Performance Index for Social Networks, and Facebook has finished at the top of the heap every single time.
Facebook’s 0.73-second average response time, however, rose slightly from 0.7 seconds in the second quarter.
Facebook received some minor bad news on the availability front, as YouTube outperformed it for the third quarter with a mark of 99.98 percent, dropping the social network and its 99.96 percent figure into second place.
As AlertSite pointed out, Facebook’s performance has continued to improve steadily, for the most part, despite soaring past 800 million members and seeing many of those members spend more time on the network.
