Sponsored stories in both the news feeds and tickers of some Facebook users are starting to move beyond the like and adding new calls to action.

What’s Next Marketing Chief Executive Officer Ryan Cohn sent along these two examples of the same ad — one from the ticker, and one from the news feed — in which advertisers are beginning to incorporate some of the changes announced in September, using Facebook’s Open Graph to create action items other than like.

In the case of the pictured ads, the call to action is, “Check out this idea.”

Clarification: A Facebook source said on background that the first screen shot is not a ticker post, but a page post ad, which allows pages to promote their updates within their ad spaces, adding that it was published using a third-party application. Also, the second screen shot is a status update that enters users’ news feeds organically, which the page is using to promote its post.
