Facebook Tests Coupons As Premium Ad Units

Facebook is testing a new way for brands to use coupons: premium ad units that appear on homepages along with posts on the advertiser’s page.

Sister blog Inside Facebook reported that Facebook users can click the ad or the page post to receive coupons via email, which can then be shared with friends. The coupons can be either in-store or online.

A Facebook spokesperson explained:

We think this test is complementary to the other products we offer businesses, and we hope to learn more about how this might work for both merchants and customers.
