Facebook And Timelines.com Get 2013 Court Date, But…

Timelines.com and Facebook are still discussing whether to settle out of court, although the former’s trademark lawsuit and the latter’s countersuit have been scheduled for court sometime in 2013.

Timelines.com and Facebook said in federal court that they were still discussing a potential settlement, according to paidContent.

An early settlement conference with a magistrate judge may bring the matter to an end.

The two parties were in court to file their schedules for the legal proceedings, according to paidContent.

The smaller company filed a trademark suit in September, claiming that Facebook’s use of the word “timeline” for the new profile would cripple Timelines.com’s online scrapbook service.

Facebook filed a countersuit in December, asserting that timeline is a generic term.
