FIFA Gears Up For 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil With Launch Of Three Facebook Pages

The Fédération Internationale de Football Association (FIFA) is gearing up for 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil with the launch of three new Facebook pages.

Soccer’s international governing body announced the launch of:

  • 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazil, which will cover all news leading up to and during the sport’s showcase tournament, which kicks off Thursday, June 12, and wraps with the championship match Sunday, July 13.
  • FIFA World Cup, which offers multimedia content on the history of the tournament from 1930 through 2010 and enables fans to share their memories of the World Cup.
  • FIFA, an overall look at the organization’s worldwide efforts, including development, Football for Health, corporate social responsibility projects, behind-the-scenes photos and videos, and fan engagement opportunities.

FIFA Director of Communications and Public Affairs Walter De Gregorio said:

Since FIFA took its first social media steps on Twitter in the buildup to the 2010 FIFA World Cup, more than 4.5 million football fans have been actively engaging with us in six different languages, primarily @FIFAcom and @FIFAWorldCup. As a governing body, this is something we’re very proud of.

We’re really excited to launch these three new pages today. With the FIFA on YouTube channel, too, FIFA is increasing its presence across different social platforms for football fans, and over the coming months, we will announce further plans, including the launch of our first FIFA application at the final draw for the World Cup in December.
