More Social Partners To Join Facebook Messenger On Firefox Social API

Move over, Facebook Messenger: You’ve got company on the Firefox Social API. Mozilla announced the addition of several social partners to its application-programming interface, which launched last November, solely with Messenger.

According to the announcement by Mozilla, Cliqz, Mixi, msnNOW, and Weibo will be tested on its application-programming interface “soon.”

Mozilla added in its announcement:

Mozilla developed the Social API to enable social services and providers to integrate directly into Firefox to make users browsing experience more social, customizable, and personal. The Social API makes it easy for you to keep up with friends and family without having to switch between or open new tabs.

We are really excited about the possibilities that Social API brings to the future of browsing, including ways to integrate even more social providers, email, finance, news, and other applications and services into your Firefox experience. Stay tuned for more details and when we start beta-testing the additional social providers.
