Social Shopping Spree: Fluid Acquires 8thBridge

Fluid8thBridge650Consolidation struck the social shopping sector, as 8thBridge, a provider of social discovery, curation, analytics, and marketing solutions for retailers, announced that it was acquired by digital shopping software and services company Fluid.

8thBridge Founder and CEO Wade Gerten said in a blog post announcing the deal, “All of us at 8thBridge are excited to be joining the Fluid team,” and neither the blog post nor the press release announcing the acquisition mentioned any staffing reductions.

Fluid said in the release:

By adding 8thBridge’s technology and capabilities, Fluid will now offer the most comprehensive suite of software solutions for empowering brands and retailers to deliver engaging digital shopping experiences to their customers, supported by an integrated social analytics platform. Fluid is known as an ecommerce innovator that consistently transforms the way people shop, which makes 8thBridge’s social CRM (customer-relationship management) platform an ideal acquisition.

By aligning with 8thBridge, Fluid will extend its digital experience suite — including product customization, shoppable media, and visual mix and match — with 8thBridge’s comprehensive social commerce platform.

Gerten added:
