FWD.us, the political advocacy group led by Facebook Co-Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg, is taking the phrase, “Call your congressman,” and putting its own high-tech stamp behind it.

As part of its Speak Up initiative pushing immigration reform, once users fill out online forms with their phone numbers, email addresses, and ZIP codes, they will receive phone calls, during which they will be given automated, detailed instructions on what to say, and then be automatically connected to the offices of their senators.

Josh Constine of TechCrunch described his experience:

I just tried it and was greeted with a woman’s voice telling me once I’m connected to “just provide your name and address and then say why you support comprehensive immigration reform.” A robot voice then stated, “We’re connecting you to Sen. Dianne Feinstein.”
