Facebook is testing a new ad unit that places game suggestions directly into the notifications feeds of mobile users, AllThingsD reported, saying that it was first spotted by Twitter Founding Engineer Britt Selvitelle.

A Facebook spokesperson confirmed the test of the new ad unit to AllThingsD, saying:

We’re always testing new channels to promote games. This is part of a small mobile distribution test we’re running for game developers.

According to AllThingsD, the ads are based on users’ gaming habits, in an attempt to ensure their relevance.
