One of the first questions after Facebook announced Home, which takes over the home screen from Android, was what Google thought of the product. Google’s director of Android operating system user experience recently told ABC News that he’s a fan of Facebook Home.

In an interview with ABC News, Matias Durate praised Facebook for not only showing off the best of the social network with this mobile technology, but also showing Android’s best features:

The new Facebook Home shows an incredible amount of polish and attention to design detail, and that didn’t come from a hardware manufacturer. With the Home experience, they did a nice job expressing the Facebook experience, but so much of the Google design experience with Ice Cream Sandwich (Android 4.0) was in there as well.

Durate said that just because Facebook took over the home screen for Home-enabled phones, it doesn’t mean that Android is pushed aside. Rather, it’s because of Android’s flexibility that Facebook Home is able to shine.
