Facebook: More Than 45M Mentions Of Government Shutdown This Week

ShutdownThe government may be shut down, but Facebook is still up and running, to the tune of more than 45 million interactions related to the issue this week, from more than 17 million users.

Facebook found that men were engaging about the government shutdown around 37 percent more than women were, and other findings by the social network included:

The five top-rated related terms were:

  1. Obama
  2. Shutdown/shut down
  3. Congress
  4. GOP
  5. Obamacare

The top three age groups discussing the government shutdown were:

  1. 55 to 64.
  2. 45 to 54.
  3. 35 to 44.

And the top 10 states discussing the issue were:

  1. Washington, D.C.
  2. Virginia
  3. Maryland
  4. West Virginia
  5. Alaska
  6. Arkansas
  7. Alabama
  8. New Mexico
  9. Oklahoma
  10. Wyoming
