REPORT: Graph Search Coming To Facebook’s IOS App; Messenger For IOS Being Overhauled

GoldiPhone5sTeaserFacebook’s Graph Search is finally going mobile, as it will be added to the social network’s flagship application for iOS, according to a report by 9to5Mac, which added that the Messenger app is undergoing an overhaul, as well.

9to5Mac also reported that Greg Novick — who came to Facebook from Apple last year, and who led the rebuild of Facebook’s iOS app — left the social network to return to Apple.

Facebook introduced Graph Search in January and rolled it out to all U.S. English users in August, but the feature has been restricted to desktop.

As for Messenger, 9to5Mac reported that the social network is testing two new versions of the app, with one resembling the iOS Messages app, with green interface elements, and the other — which is the more likely one to roll out, a source familiar with the developments told 9to5Mac — featuring extensive white space and conforming to the design of iOS 7, including tabs for active and recent chats and contacts, as well as a settings menu across the bottom.

9to5Mac added that the new version of Messenger will allow users to integrate their iPhone contact lists to determine which contacts can be reached via Facebook, and the home screen will include a blue chat bubble with a white border.

In other mobile developments, the social network is also working on an update to Messenger for Android, as well as new video filters for Instagram.
