Facebook Home Tops 500K Google Play Downloads

Android overlay Facebook Home topped the 500,000-download mark on Google Play over the weekend despite only being available on a handful of devices.

Analyst Benedict Evans reported the news in a tweet Sunday, and the Google Play page for Facebook Home lists its install total at between 500,000 and 1 million.

Facebook Home comes preloaded on the HTC First, and it is currently available for download for the HTC One X, HTC One X+, Samsung Galaxy S III, and Samsung Galaxy Note II.

TechCrunch pointed out that Instagram was downloaded more than 5 million times in six days when it launched on Android last April, but the photo-sharing application was available for all Android devices.

The average rating for Facebook Home on Google Play is currently just 2.2 stars out of five, with The Next Web pointing out that 52 percent of the reviews gave Home only one star.

Readers: Have you downloaded Facebook Home if you own one of the applicable devices, or will you do so when its availability is extended to more Android devices?
