HOW TO: Use The Facebook Pages Manager App

Finally, the prayers of Facebook page administrators have been answered. Facebook released the Pages Manager application for the iPhone to make it easier for page admins to effectively manage their Facebook pages. The Facebook Page app for mobile has always had the ability to manage Facebook pages, but not with the same features, and often with numerous bugs when it came to properly posting content.

Pages Manager has a similar look and feel to the regular Facebook iPhone app, but it is more focused on updating and managing pages. The app allows users to choose from the list of pages they manage and begin posting from it. From the main menu, users can view their lists of pages, view overviews of their pages’ insights, look at the list of page admins, visit the help center, and check out the privacy and legal notices.

Once users click on the individual page they wish to manage, the app will take them to the wall of that page, where each individual post is listed. From there, users can like, comment, and interact with content they’ve posted, as well as determine how many people it has reached and how many people are talking about it.

Users can compose posts, and Pages Manager offers much more room to work with than the previous app did. Photos can also be shared, which were previously difficult to add text to until Pages Manager. If users select the filter at the top-right-hand corner, they can toggle between everyone’s posts, only the page’s posts, and hidden posts — also an added bonus contributing to the app’s improved functionality.

Users who click on metrics highlighted by grey bars will be able to see more detailed overviews of those posts in terms of reach, engaged users, and people talking about this. This is extremely helpful information when users are working remotely and want to see how content is doing before accessing it via computer.

If users click the back arrow, they can go back to the stream of posts from their pages, where they can delete previous posts by sliding their finger across the posts to the left or the right. This is also where admins can can dive into their pages’ overall analytics by clicking the grey bar below the names of their pages.

From the page insights dashboard, users receive a high-level look at how their pages are performing in terms of total likes, people talking about this, weekly total reach, and trends in the past 14 days, highlighted by a small line graph. Again, percentages appear on the right-hand side of each of these metrics, giving users a quick glance at their pages’ performance.

Lastly, from the home screen, it’s also possible to see a list of admins of users’ existing Facebook pages as a means of quickly checking who does and doesn’t have access to particular pages.
