Thousands will take to the streets of downtown Austin for the 25th annual South By Southwest Festival, starting March 11 and continuing for nine days, bringing some amazing film and music talent to the city. We’ve gathered a round-up of Facebook pages to help make the massive event a little easier to manage.

The official Facebook page for South by Southwest is an obvious choice for all of the latest news surrounding all three aspects of the festival. If you have purchased any of the available badges, become a fan of the page to for some information to help you plan your schedule.

Live Among The Locals

Austin boasts a music scene unmatched by other cities. Becoming a fan of local websites’ homes on the social network can help visitors from out of town navigate like natives. Do512′s official page lists local happenings and has an application to help you organize your own calendar of SXSW events you want to attend. The free newspaper The Austin Chronicle is an official sponsor of the event, and regularly provides updates about what’s going on over the nine-day festival.

Austinist also has frequently updates on a Facebook page filled with news surrounding local events, many of which relate to SXSW. Austin360 counts as one of the most popular destinations to keep up with what’s going on in the city.

Unofficial Pages

Unofficial Facebook pages for the upcoming Austin event provide a great way to network with fellow attendees, and help you plan where you’re going.

Although its title still suggests it is for 2010, this unofficial page brings 42 thousand fans together with frequent updates surrounding upcoming films, concerts, and any other SXSW-related parties. Other alternatives include this option that presents a similar concept. Plus, SXSW Baby is a community blog that posts on Facebook.
