Social media analytics company Socialbakers examined the social media activity by President Barack Obama and Republican challenger Mitt Romney from May 1 through Sept. 19, finding that the incumbent added fewer likes during the period and posted less often, but his posts were shared more than those of the former Massachusetts governor.

According to Socialbakers, Romney added 5,416,149 during the period, growing his fan base by 76 percent, while Obama added 2,542,243 to a much larger total, seeing growth of 8.83 percent.

Romney posted 422 times during the period, resulting in 1,850,402 shares, while Obama’s 179 posts led to 2,400,770 shares, Socialbakers reported.
