Despite Terms Of Use Fiasco, Instagram Users Still Upload 40M Pics Per Day

Despite erroneous reports that Instagram users were dropping the application en masse in December, the photo-sharing application posted usage statistics that show that it’s still going strong. Instagram published monthly active user data for the first time. This comes not long after Facebook changed the way those kinds of data are tracked.

According to Instagram, the site has 90 million monthly active users who upload 40 million photos per day. There are 8,500 likes per second and 1,000 comments per second. As AllThingsD notes, the number of monthly active users is up 10 percent from December.

Instagram Co-Founder Kevin Systrom talked with AllThingsD about the company’s growth:

Instagram continues to see very strong growth around the world. With many of the product and internationalization improvements we’ve made, we’ve been excited to see these efforts resonate with users globally.
