LifeStyles Condoms, AIDS Healthcare Foundation Use Facebook Hashtags In #KnowYourStatus Campaign

Marking one of the first uses of Facebook hashtags in a marketing campaign, LifeStyles Condoms is helping to raise awareness of National HIV Testing Day with #KnowYourStatus, in partnership with the AIDS Healthcare Foundation.

The campaign urges users on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram to donate their status updates to the cause, along with the hashtag #KnowYourStatus, offering the following examples:

  • I’m donating my status to promote National HIV Testing Day. Find a center near you at freehivtest.net and #KnowYourStatus
  • I just donated a condom to @AIDSHealthcare to support National HIV Testing Day #KnowYourStatus
  • Safe sex starts with knowledge. Find an HIV testing center and get tested today at freehivtest.net #KnowYourStatus

LifeStyles will donate one condom to the AIDS Healthcare Foundation for every Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram status update with the #KnowYourStatus hashtag, up to 50,000, as well as donating an additional 10,000 condoms to AIDS Healthcare Foundation initiative Condom Nation, a 25-state tour to give away 10 million free condoms and promote condom use and safer sex in America.

LifeStyles Condoms maker Ansell Healthcare Vice President of Sales and Marketing, North America Carol Carrozza said:

Nearly 1.2 million people are living with HIV, and almost one in five don’t know they are infected. Through this campaign, we hope to raise awareness surrounding the importance of knowing your status by partnering with an organization that shares our dedication to HIV education and prevention.

Condom Nation Director James Vellequette added:

AHF is excited to partner with Lifestyles for the #KnowYourStatus social media campaign, which will work to engage and educate consumers in a whole new way and increase digital awareness for National HIV Testing day. This campaign aligns with our efforts to make condoms accessible to the Columbus, Ohio, community and encourage everyone to “know their status” by getting tested for HIV across the nation.
