Led Zeppelin Uses Facebook To Tease Release

Legendary but dormant rock band Led Zeppelin is using its Facebook page to tease an announcement that will apparently be made Thursday, but what is it all about?

The band posted a graphic that said, “five,” in a font it has used on album covers, Saturday, following that up with a “four” Sunday and a “III” Monday, with no captions or explanations.

According to The Guardian, the band last performed together at London’s O2 Arena in December 2007, with Jason Bonham on the drums in the place of original drummer John Bonham, his father, who died in September 1980.

In 2009, surviving members Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones scrapped plans to replace fellow surviving member and lead singer Robert Plant, according to The Guardian.

The newspaper speculated that the announcement is related to a live CD and DVD of the aforementioned O2 Arena show, citing two tweets from Page’s manager, Peter Mensch, with the July tweet referencing producer and engineer Alan Moulder.

Mensch tweeted Saturday:

it’s almost here. I’ve seen it and heard it. almost 5 years to the day.

And in July, he tweeted:

today, Moulder continues with his stellar mixing of the O2 show. it’s been 5 years coming and it’s almost here.

The Guardian also reported that Jason Bonham told KLOS radio in 2010, “I really do hope that it eventually will see the light of day,” referring to the O2 Arena gig, and a Belgian radio station reported last week that Led Zeppelin will release a live double DVD and two live CDs in November.
