Look Behind The Scenes Of 'The Social Network'

With the Academy Awards less than a month away, people are speculating that The Social Network might dominate the ceremony due to having eight nominations. Barely a month after the film came out on DVD and Blu-ray, free copies of the documentary on the making of the flick went up on the Internet Movie Database.

Until today, you could only see the roughly 93 minutes of documentary footage by purchasing or renting The Social Network. Apparently the “making of” film also joined the menu of Time Warner Cable’s on-demand programming in New York City and Los Angeles — and if it’s not a freebie, I’m confused.

So this free look behind the scenes of The Social Network ought to help sales and rentals of the movie, but I wonder if it will also help remind people that the film nominated for eight Oscars isn’t a documentary about Facebook but rather a work of historical fiction.

Best actor nominee Jesse Eisenberg, who played Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg, pointed out that very fictional nature of the flick and the role he played, during his appearance on “Saturday Night Live” this past weekend.
