Report: Facebook Social Ads, Sponsored Stories Promoting Engagement

Recent research by online advertising-management platform Marin Software gave the Facebook like thumbs-up to the social network’s emphasis on social ads and sponsored stories.

Here are some highlights from the research by Marin Software:

  • In the past 12 months, the percentage of Facebook advertising budgets allocated toward social ads jumped to 23 percent from 5 percent, and Marin expects that figure to reach 50 percent by year-end.
  • The cost-per-click for social ads has leapt 86 percent over the past 12 months, while marketplace ads have seen that figure drop over the same time period.
  • Engagement with Facebook ads, measured via click-through rates, is up 50 percent over the past 12 months.
