Will Mark Zuckerberg Propose A Toast To Google’s Project Glass?

The sometimes-frosty relationship between Facebook and Google may be thawing a bit thanks to Facebook Co-Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg’s enthusiasm for Google’s Project Glass.

Forbes reported that Zuckerberg and Google Co-Founder Sergey Brin spoke extensively at Wednesday’s introduction of the Breakthrough Prize in Life Sciences Foundation at the University of California, San Francisco’s Genentech Hall.

According to Forbes, when Zuckerberg completed his interviews with broadcast media about the new awards, he approached Brin to examine his augmented reality glasses, saying,” I can’t wait to get my own,” as Brin attempted to adjust his Glass on Zuckerberg’s head.

Forbes reported that once Zuckerberg was wearing Brin’s Glass, he attempted to use voice commands, repeating command prompt, “OK Glass,” several times, asking Brin questions including:

How do you look out from this without looking awkward? You know, how are you supposed to use these without breaking eye contact? Can you get indoor directions?

Zuckerberg also asked Brin if it was possible to send data via Glass without going through Google’s servers, according to Forbes, and Brin said it was not. The two executives later shared this exchange when discussing Zuckerberg eventually obtaining a pair:

Brin: I’m not a social media expert.

Zuckerberg: I’m not a Glass expert.

According to Forbes, Zuckerberg said Facebook has a team of three engineers, including a former Google employee, prepared to start building applications combining the social network and Glass.
