REPORT: Mark Zuckerberg-Led Political Advocacy Group Adds Two Lobbying Firms

The political advocacy group being formed by Facebook Co-Founder and CEO Mark Zuckerberg is moving full-speed ahead, as Politico Pro reported that two more lobbying firms have signed on to work with the group.

According to Politico Pro, Peck Madigan Jones and Fierce, Isakowitz & Blalock have been added to the roster of consultants for the group, which will focus on comprehensive immigration reform.

Politico Pro added that both firms have lobbied on the subject on Capitol Hill, with Michael Gonzalez of Peck Madigan Jones doing so on behalf of Facebook, and Mark Isakowitz of Fierce, Isakowitz & Blalock doing so on behalf of Oracle.

The Wall Street Journal reported earlier this week that the group’s goal is to raise $50 million, and more than one-dozen other technology executives, including LinkedIn Founder Reid Hoffman are on board, adding that Joe Lockhart, Facebook’s former vice president of corporate communications and White House press secretary under former President Bill Clinton, will also be involved with the group.

And the San Francisco Chronicle’s Politics Blog reported at the beginning of the week that the independent expenditure group was organized by Zuckerberg’s Harvard University roommate, Joe Green, and it will enlist the services of two Republican heavy hitters: Jon Lerner, who founded Red Sea and was behind Grover Norquist and his Club for Growth; and Rob Jesmer, a former strategist with Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) and the National Republican Senatorial Committee.
